This post is based on an article I published as an external author a couple of weeks ago on the Loogic blog. Those of you who follow me already know that with our start-up Coguan we move in the world of online advertising. We have recently added a service to our offer (“Coguan Oz”) to help publishers better optimize and monetize their unsold inventory. Here are my updated tips based on recent experience with the new service.
Better monetize eCPM web ads
1. Increase page views per user
Among the simplest techniques to increase traffic is increasing the page views of a blog or website. You can use, for example, WordPress plugins such as “read more” or “related posts” to engage your readers and motivate the next click. You have to keep in mind that the post must be long enough (minimum 200 words) to apply this technique.
2. Lower the bounce rate of visitors
Prevent your users from leaving when they arrive at the website or blog. Here too there is a very useful WordPress plugin for users who arrive from search engines. The plugin identifies the keyword of the search and suggests a series of additional entries that may fit better than the post clicked from search engines. Usability and design cambodia phone number library are other important factors to lower the bounce rate. An attractive and good quality photo is a complementary way to get the user’s attention and prevent them from leaving.
Test different ad positions and formats
You have to test different positions, formats and colors if you work with click-through ads. There can be a huge difference between an ad how does “find my iphone” work? deactivating, activating, etc. that is placed in the visible part compared to one that is in the footer of the page. Obviously you have to take care of the user experience that arrives at your website and not exaggerate the optimization.
4. Choose profitable topics to create posts
As an example, we can say that blogs that deal b2c fax with financial topics usually have a much higher eCPM than football websites. Especially in contextual advertising, you will notice differences if you work with Cost per Click models. But you will also see important differences in impression advertising, as I mentioned in one of my recent posts.
5. Use various forms of monetization and providers for your advertising spaces
There is a world beyond Google Adsense. It is not good to depend on a single provider when you want to get the most out of your advertising spaces. You have to vary between different models and try different companies to see which mix creates the greatest possible value. There are models that are complementary, such as platforms that allow direct contracting while allowing the integration of advertising networks so that at any given time you can get the highest price for the ads offered. You can also use “Oz” type services that offer optimization of advertising spaces using display, text ads with photos or video banners.
Create a mobile version of your site
Web traffic coming to your site from mobile devices can be very profitable. Today, this type of inventory is scarce, so CPMs (Cost per Thousand Impressions) of 5 to 10 Euros or even more are paid depending on the topic. There are several providers on the market that offer you the possibility of monetizing this traffic for mobile advertising.
7. Add video inventory to your site’s content
The cost of producing a video today is practically zero. It is enough to have a mobile phone to create the visual content for your website. You can get players for your videos at no cost. Obviously, you will get a higher return on campaigns and traffic if you invest a little time and creativity in the creation process. Typical formats are Pre- and Postroll. Prices are moving between 5-12 Euros CPM.
