Differences in SMS messaging channels

Today we would like to describe in detail the operating principle of our SMS channel system, as it raises many questions.

In December 2015, we introduced a new scheme for our platform: a channel system. It allows us to collect an unlimited number of channels for sending SMS with different properties (price, quality, use of your signature, etc.). At the moment, we have collected the following channels:

Direct channel with the ability to choose your own letter

signature. This is a guaranteed channel, bulk sms master are well delivered, the operator platform is quite stable. The only downside is the price – the channel is expensive. It is represented by the main operators of the Russian Federation.

We have recently assembled this channel. The fact is that with the introduction differences in SMS messaging of amendments to the Federal Law “On Advertising”, operators have switched to an account-based system, when discounts are provided to end companies for a separate sender name. When using this connection, sending is done from one sender name, the traffic is essentially summed up. This channel is also guaranteed, the platforms work stably. At the moment, the channel is represented by such operators as Beeline, Tele2, MTS.

Alternative channel

In essence, this is our past: this is the scheme all he plays marco saavra an aggregators used until October 2015. There were “buffer” operators through which all traffic went to Beeline, MTS, Tele2, etc. With the introduction of amendments to the law, sending in this way was actually prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation. However, the ban does not apply if the SMS comes from a foreign operator that has contracts with our operators. And such foreign operators were found.

The main advantage of this channel is the low price. The cost of SMS is several times lower than with a direct connection. However, the disadvantages of this channel include sending from the digital address of the sender (the inability to use an alphabetic signature) and a high degree of traffic filtering by the equipment of the operators to which the mailing is sent. False statuses and non-delivery to an existing number are possible. At the moment, the channel is represented by the following operators: Megafon, MTS, Tele2.

Direct channel without the ability to choose your name

When sending SMS, you can choose one of 3 channels. You have probably already noticed that some of them do not contain the entire set of operators. For example, channel #2 does not have Megafon, and therefore, to deliver china data, the platform for this operator will select the settings (routing map, tariff) from channel #1.
