Surviving the new normal

In times of uncertainty, finding structure is key to staying productive. Whether you work in sales, marketing, finance or engineering, having a daily routine is likely to help you get through the day.

The novel coronavirus, a force beyond our control, has disrupted our hectic routines. We have lost our structure, our daily routines. Instructions to practice social distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19 have changed every aspect of how we interact.

We recognize that major crises require adjustments, but these adjustments also challenge us. CIAL Dun & Bradstreet is developing resources to help businesses cope during this difficult time, but we realize there are human factors as well.

In it, he noted that forces beyond one’s control can take away many things, except the freedom to choose how one will respond to a situation. Companies and workers who have long relied on the 9-to-5 office environment are trying to adapt and continue business in a new, distributed environment. But we need to adapt our mindset to work in different conditions. Those of us who are used to going to the office, whether it’s a 40-story building, a Starbucks or WeWork, might have a hard time focusing on our work.
